Partners: City of Cheyenne, Laramie County
Downtown Planters - The DDA pays to plant and maintain more than 400 planters in the DDA district. The total projected DDA financial investment in the planter program for FY 2010 is $37,000.
Banners - As part of the downtown marketing campaign, the DDA created attractive banners to be hung from downtown light poles adding vibrancy and a unique visual identity to the district.
Clean and Safe Crew - The DDA and City each fund a portion of the Clean & Safe program to improve the visual appearance of Downtown. A full-time crew is employed year ‘round and with one additional employee for the summer months. The work force is on duty six days a week performing tasks such as picking up trash from the sidewalks, alleys and designated parking lots, maintenance of the parking garage and Depot Square Plaza, keeping the public trash receptacles and furniture clean and free of graffiti, snow removal at intersections and power washing sidewalks. The work force has also been trained in community safety and about local attractions, allowing them to serve as “ambassadors” for the district. The Cheyenne DDA budgeted a total of $135,000 for the Clean and Safe program in FY 2010.
Trashcans and Benches - The DDA provides funding to purchase new trashcans and new benches for downtown sidewalks. It is the DDA’s hope to annually purchase additional trashcans and benches in a gradual manner. The Clean and Safe crew provides support for trash removal.
Holiday Décor - The DDA spent more than $20,000 over the past few years to purchase the large holiday lighting displays seen in the Depot Plaza and around the parking structure during the holiday season. Each year, the DDA purchases replacement bulbs and additional decorations to keep the downtown holiday season aglow. |
