DDA Business Programs
Clean and SafeStarted in Spring of 2005, a new cleanliness and maintenance program was unveiled for downtown. The “Clean and Safe” program provides supplemental sanitation and maintenance services in order to beautify downtown. The uniformed workers also carry downtown maps for visitors and radios to alert the proper authorities of any security issues in the district.
Business Recruitment and Investor MarketingThe DDA assists potential developers and new businesses in appreciating the benefits of doing business in the district and works with other economic development organizations to help place new industry downtown. A new Downtown Business and Investor Recruitment package will be introduced in the fall of 2005 aimed at driving economic development by actively seeking qualified local, regional and national investors and businesses. The DDA is also funding a downtown retail assessment in order to provide interested businesses and investors a guide to retail possibilities in Downtown Cheyenne
Downtown AdvocateThe Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority board and staff serve to act as advocates on behalf of the downtown constituents. We serve as liaisons to other community organizations and provide funds for community plans and projects to ensure that downtown interests and issues are represented.
Capital Improvement GrantsThe Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority partners with downtown property and business owners to provide financial assistance for property improvements. These enhancements include incorporating the DDA streetscape design (or general sidewalk improvements), signage and awnings.
Design and Streetscape AssistanceThe DDA will reimburse property and/or business owner for an approved architect’s time (up to 8 hours at a rate of no more than $80/hr.) in order to provide expertise on incorporating the DDA streetscape or design guidelines into the design of a project.
Parking SubsidiesAs an incentive to encourage new businesses to locate downtown, the DDA is able to provide a substantial subsidy for parking spaces in the new downtown parking structure for the first year.
NxLevel ScholarshipsThis business planning course is an indispensable guide for success for the new and established business. The DDA will reimburse the cost of tuition for this course for any business located within the district. Participant must present a certificate of completion for reimbursement.
Vacancy ListThe DDA maintains a list of vacancies that is distributed to anyone who requests it to make leasing and locating space downtown easier.
Retail DirectoriesA Downtown Shopping, Dining and Services guide is created each year for distribution throughout the city, region and by request through our office. Downtown retail stores are listed in an easy-to-read guide useful to the tourist or the Cheyenne native.
Consumer MarketingThe Cheyenne DDA actively markets the entire downtown area. Through the free downtown shuttle, Interstate highway billboards, retail brochures, event sponsorship and beautification projects, banners, planters, furniture and waste receptacles, the DDA entices people downtown to support district businesses.
Event SponsorshipThe Cheyenne DDA sponsors numerous activities throughout the downtown area. The hub of downtown activity is the Historic Union Pacific Depot and its adjacent Depot Plaza where many of the DDA-sponsored events are held.
