Partners: Visit Cheyenne, Cheyenne LEADS, Cheyenne Depot Museum, Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce and the City of Cheyenne

Property Owner Communications - In an effort to increase communications with our property owners, the DDA has instituted a number of initiatives to achieve this goal. A phone survey is being conducted to solicit information from property owners on the DDA, downtown issues, current needs and future economic development activities. Property owner meetings are scheduled for March. The staff is also visiting downtown businesses and property owners.

Downtown Events - One of the goals of the DDA is to “activate” Downtown Cheyenne and to have area residents reconnect to downtown Cheyenne - to ensure that we provide numerous activities that will drive traffic to our downtown. To that end, the DDA partnered with the Cheyenne Depot Museum, City of Cheyenne, Wyoming Tribune-Eagle and many other organizations to sponsor downtown events held in the Depot Square Plaza and other district venues. Fueled by the wonderful success of past events (there were more than 37 events held in the plaza in 2009), the DDA increased it’s commitment to downtown events by providing sponsorships in FY 2010 of $67,000.

Advertising - The DDA actively markets the downtown area locally, regionally and nationally through its consumer advertising. We promote local events and holiday promotions through our local and regional advertisements and often partner with other organizations to cooperative advertising in national publications.

Downtown Directories and Brochures - A Downtown Shopping, Lodging and Dining guide is created each year for distribution throughout the city, region and by request through the DDA office. All retail establishments within the DDA district are listed. We also produce the popular “Downtown Historic Walking Tour” brochure.

Public and Media Relations- The DDA serves as the media liaison for the downtown district and promotes possible stories whenever possible. We have budgeted to participate with Visit Cheyenne, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, City of Cheyenne and Cheyenne LEADS to promote the positive attributes of Cheyenne to increase our exposure nationally and regionally. The DDA also markets Downtown Cheyenne as a destination for visitors in Cheyenne and Front Range media. The Boots Walker marketing program was recently awarded the Award of Distinction from the International Downtown Association.
