Atlas Theater
Historic Atlas Theater, Cheyenne, Wyoming. This typical Vaudevillian Theater has been an anchor to downtown Cheyenne since 1887. The Atlas Building was converted to a theatre in 1908. Seating almost 550, the stage was sufficient for the traveling companies of the time, a soda fountain, a penny arcade and parlor.
Managed by the Cheyenne Little Theatre Players: The Cheyenne Little Theatre Players (CLTP) is a nonprofit, community theatre whose mission is to consistently bring high quality, community-based theatrical entertainment and education to people of all ages in the tri-state region of Wyoming, northern Colorado, and western Nebraska.
We offer a year-round season of full-scale productions, including Readers Theatres, and of course, The Old Fashioned Melodrama, which in 2009 will be celebrating its 53rd year. During the season, the CLTP's volunteers contribute to the group's successful shows by performing, directing, helping build sets, operating spotlights, ushering, serving concessions, staffing will call and the box office and doing much, much more.
A major focus of the CLTP programs is arts education. For the past eleven summers, the CLTP has sponsored the Cheyenne Theatre Academy for kindergarten through eighth grade students. The CLTP is currently in the process of expanding the academy to include year round classes for adults, as well as youth.
Founded in 1930, the Cheyenne Little Theatre Players (CLTP) is one of the oldest community theatre groups in the United States, as well as one of the oldest continuously operating organizations in Cheyenne. The CLTP achieved 501(c)(3) status in 1940.

Cheyenne Civic Center
Quality entertainment has been provided by the Cheyenne Civic Center. Built in 1981, the downtown center is operated by the City of Cheyenne and seats 1,496 (with 584 orchestra-level seats, 478 loge seats and 434 balcony seats).
Over the years, the Center has played host to the best of the best in the entertainment industry. Past Sold Out Shows include the Beach Boys, B.B. King, David Copperfield, Harry Belafonte, Tony Bennett, Alison Krauss, Wayne Newton, Natalie Cole, Victor Borge, the Smothers Brothers, Anne Murray and Jerry Seinfeld as well as Broadway touring shows such as Lord of the Dance, A Chorus Line, Cats, Grease, Sesame Street, and the Bolshoi Ballet!
“The Civic Center is able to lure some of the great entertainers because of its close proximity to the crossroads of Interstate 80 (I-80) and Interstate 25 (I-25),” says Dru Rohla, the Cheyenne Civic Center's executive director. “I recently brought in “Jerry Seinfeld” for two side-splitting, sold out events.”
During the past 27 years, the Civic Center has undergone its share of renovations. “We've replaced the carpet, the lighting instruments, the sound board, and the musicians' chairs over the last seven years,” In the next decade, Rohla hopes to have the stage curtains and theater seats replaced as well. Recent flooding to the lower levels of the Cheyenne Civic Center has updated stage lighting along with a new heating system. The stage floor has been sanded and polished. The rehearsal room has been completely restored.
And while the Civic Center meets current American Disability Association (ADA) guidelines for public access, seating for wheelchairs is limited in the auditorium's main floor behind the orchestra and in front of the loge seating. The room for rehearsal also has limited disability access. Within the next 10 years, Rohla says he wants to increase the ADA access to the Cheyenne Civic Center.
The Civic Center is city-owned and operated. We have hosted many local organizations, including the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club, the All-City Children's Choir, Laramie County Community College and “is home to the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra.” Many local artistic individuals and groups, as well as talented students, amateurs and professionals alike have displayed their artworks in the beautiful lobbies of the Civic Center.

Cheyenne Depot Museum
121 W 15th Street Ste 300
Cheyenne, WY 82001
632-3905
www.cheyennedepotmuseum.org
The Cheyenne Depot Museum is housed in the newly renovated Union Pacific Depot in downtown Cheyenne. The museum tells the story about the establishment of Cheyenne during the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad, the operation of the Union Pacific Railroad and the history of the construction of the Union Pacific Depot. You can view the Union Pacific Main Yard from the new building on the west end of the Depot, and experience the second floor of the Cheyenne Depot Museum which is a “touchable museum experience” that has received rave reviews from children of all ages.
Visitors will also be able to see the restored passenger subway behind the building where train passengers used to pass to get through to the platforms by the tracks. Visitors will also enjoy the museum floor display in the lobby of the Depot showing a beautiful map of the transcontinental railroad from Council Bluffs, Iowa to Promissory Point, Utah in granite and other stones.
The Union Pacific Railroad Depot is located on the south side of 15th Street, at the intersection with Capitol Avenue. The Depot is located-naturally enough-alongside the still-active tracks of the Union Pacific, America’s first transcontinental railroad, in the heart of Cheyenne’s central business district. No longer used as a passenger facility, it sits on the northern side of the railroad’s mainline tracks, and forms the visual cornerstone for downtown Cheyenne. Located on the site of the first Cheyenne Depot, a wood frame building constructed in 1867, the Depot is one of the downtown’s two most significant landmarks. The Depot is prominently placement at one end of Capital Avenue, opposite the Wyoming State Capitol; Cheyenne’s other major historical landmark.
The 1929 Art Deco lobby has been beautifully restored. A map of the transcontinental railroad route with historical details made out of poured colored stone has been embedded in the lobby floor. The museum-quality exhibit is a unique attraction for all the visitors who come to the Union Pacific Depot.

Historic Governors Mansion

Historic Governors' Mansion State Historic site is located at 300 E. 21st Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming. The Mansion is open Wednesday - Saturday 9am - 5pm (September 1 - May 31) and Closed on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays and holidays. Summer hours are Monday through Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sundays 1-5 pm (June 1 - August 31). There is no admission fee (donations are accepted).
This Colonial Revival Executive Mansion served as home to Wyoming's Governors and their families for 71 years, (1905 to 1976). The history embodied in this mansion brings to life the people who served the State of Wyoming and the Nation from this location. Perhaps the greatest distinction of the home is that in 1925 it was the first in the United States to be occupied by a woman governor, Nellie Tayloe Ross.
The stately Mansion, designed by Charles Murdock, was modern in 1905 because of its' central plumbing, hot water heat, and combination gas and electrical fixtures. This 2 story structure's portico features solid sandstone columns that were quarried locally in four sections and then place one on top of the other. The top half of the columns are fluted and the Corinthian style capitals were carved on site. Construction of the Mansion began in the spring of 1904 and was completed that fall.
Governor Stanley and First Lady Bobby Hathaway were instrumental in listing this historic home on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969. In July 1977, the Historic Governors' Mansion opened to the public as a historic house museum. In 2004 an extensive restoration was done on the Mansion and it now reflects décor from 1905, 1937, 1955 and 1960s era throughout the home.
The Mansion's videos with electronic touch-screens provide information about the former Governors, First Ladies, Mansion architecture and more. Self-guided tours and group guided tours available.

Nelson Museum of the West
1714 Carey Avenue
Cheyenne WY 82001
www.nelsonmuseum.com
The idea for the Museum was born on the plains of Africa, in the outback of Australia, the snow of Siberia and Alaska, and in hunting camps in numerous other locations around the world. We want you to be able to view some of the wildlife of the world in Cheyenne, Wyoming, when otherwise it would not be available to you and your children. Located at 1714 Carey Avenue in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the 18,000 square foot building was originally constructed for use as a women's fine clothing and fur store. The Museum building has been totally remodeled and is fully handicapped accessible. A climate controlled 2,500 square foot vault is home to the Museum's collection.
