Partners: City of Cheyenne, Laramie County, State of Wyoming, property and business owners.
Streetscape Improvements - In recent years, the DDA has partnered with local, county and state government to make streetscape improvements on 15th Street, Lincolnway, Capitol Avenue, Central Avenue, Carey Avenue, the improvements to the South Greeley Highway viaduct and at intersections along Pioneer Avenues.
Capital Improvement Grants and Architectural Assistance - The DDA partners with downtown property and business owners to provide financial assistance for property improvements to the outside of buildings. The Capital Improvement Grant (CIG) program partially funds enhancements such as streetscape improvements, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and signage and awnings. In addition, the DDA provides architectural assistance to downtown property owners for the use of an approved architect of up to 8 hrs ($80/hr.).
Downtown Design Review - The DDA has suggested Downtown Design Guidelines. Applications for CIG grants are typically limited to projects that comply with the Design Guidelines. The Committee also works with public entities to encourage the usage of Streetscape elements in Downtown projects.
Streetscape Maintenance - The DDA partners with the City of Cheyenne to replace curbs and sidewalks in downtown. Many of the brick paver bands in the downtown streetscape designs were replaced with stamped concrete for durability. The DDA pays to subsidize the cost incurred by the City of Cheyenne for this project and will continue to replace the bricks over the next few years.
Depot Plaza Improvements - The DDA maintains its commitment to what has become the “living room” of Cheyenne’s Downtown, the Depot Plaza. The DDA has contributed to plaza improvements including sound equipment, picnic tables and the large striped event and performance tents on the plaza. The new building on the Depot Plaza will offer a second stage, sound room, equipment storage and public restrooms. |
